About the author
HI everyone, my name is Iván Rodríguez Sosa and I am a Spanish Language and Hispanic Cultures major student at California State University Bay (CSUMB). My plan after after CSUMB is to transfer to San Jose State University to earn my Masters Degree in Spanish and my teaching credential. I arrived to the United States in 2004, because my older brother and dad saw all the opportunities we would have, and how it would help us better our future. As an eight year old kid, my only duty was to attend school and learn english as fast as possible in order to communicate and obtain a better understanding of the material I was being exposed to. My older brother always reminds me about how important it is for me to stay in school and how that should be my only priority if I want to achieve a better lifestyle. During my high school years, I came across several A.P Spanish courses, where I was exposed to it's literature and linguistics. At this point I realized that learning about my native tongue was something that I was never exposed to, and that this subject was my favorite and that I wanted to study it in a deeper level. My years after high school have been a great adventure, and learning about Spanish has given me the opportunity to appreciate my family's background and what I want to achieve in the future. My years at CSUMB allowed me to enrolled in the Spanish Club, where our goal was to promote the Spanish language and the importance of it, and the traditions of multiple Spanish speaking cultures. I was really interested in the CSUMB Spanish Club and their goal, so I managed to serve in the roles of a Vice President and secretary, working with a wonderful team and creating fun and educational activities where learning about Spanish was the main goal. My goal is to become a professor and assist future generations in achieving their goals in life, and encourage the to learn about the importance of Spanish and hispanic cultures.
