In this course, I was required to prove that my writing skills were up to the standard, Dr. Oliva expected of us. This course showed me the importance of improving my oral and written communications format, by providing us with multiple activities where we had to communicate with our peers. During this course I got to learn how to explain myself at an academic level, due to the vocabulary we were exposed to. The activities that we were exposed to encouraged us to stay active in the classroom and communicate in order to expand our vocabulary and also learn how to properly communicate with the other classmates. During this course, we were given multiple assignments where we had to talk about a chosen or given topic, and the expectations were always at a certain level we had to meet. For our final project, we had to choose two options, the first one was about being in a bilingual or monolingual relationship, and the second option I decided to talk about my dreams. The second section was the one that allowed me to express myself in a personal way, due to the fact that I was able to show some of the dreams I experienced as an immigrant, student and family member. In the second section I talk about how thankful I am for having the opportunity to live in the United States and my mom beating cancer after months of treatment. Here my final paper will be attached.
